Unfortunately, after long and hard consideration, we found it necessary to cancel this year’s fundraiser. We will not be having a fundraising event in 2021, but we are now planning our 2022 banquet at the Wild Horse Pass Hotel and Casino. We hope to have a confirmed date soon, and will keep you posted about the details as they become available.
As you know, this past season has been particularly difficult on Arizona’s wildlife. Our drought appears to be unrelenting, and this spring has not seen any notable precipitation to help. In November 2020, the ADA purchased a water wagon and trailer, and has been hauling water to dry and/or low water catchments. To date, we have hauled over 40,000 gallons of water to multiple catchments and tanks in GMUs 22 and 23. Besides deer, these particular waters also benefit small game species and birds, mountain lion, bear, javelina, etc. Our trailer is also available to Arizona Game and Fish Department personnel to assist with maintaining waters in other areas of the state. The ADA maintains this trailer, absorbing the costs of its operation, maintenance, and transportation to the water sites from our operating funds.
Because of the incredible demand, we would like to purchase a second water trailer. These trailers and the accompanying equipment cost around $8000 total. We hope to raise half of these funds through donations from supporters and members since our banquet will not be a funding source for us this year.
Please join us and make a donation to fund this water trailer. ADA is a 501(c)(3) organization and all donations are tax-deductible to the extent of the law. We will be honoring all donors on our website and in the next issue of the Deer Times. Every donor will also receive a receipt letter for tax purposes.
As upset as we are about not being able to have an in-person fundraiser in 2021, we do have some good news! We were awarded the state of Arizona Commissioners’ Special Mule Deer Tag, the state of Arizona Commissioners’ Special Coues’ Whitetail tag, and the 2021 Hualapai Scholarship Elk Tag, all to auction to the highest bidder. We held this auction on March 6th in a live, on-line event.
The Scholarship Elk Tag had a winning bid of $50,000, the Coues Whitetail Tag had a winning bid of $50,000 and the Mule Deer Tag brought in $300,000! Thank you to the bidders and to everyone who helped support this event that funds wildlife conservation!
We look forward to seeing you all later this year when we can gather in a large group, have a fantastic dinner, drink adult beverages, and raise funds for deer conservation in Arizona.
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! Our 24th Annual Banquet was a great event for ALL the deer of Arizona...and it could not have happened without your support!
The Commissioner’s Tags for Mountain Lion, Coues Deer and Mule Deer went for $6,500, $55,000 and $225,000 respectively. That will help put a LOT of projects to work.
Special thanks to all the attendees, special musical guest Bryan White and AZGFD Commissioners James Goughnour and Todd Geiler.
